Fall Back

Tweeds. Wool socks. Extra hankerchiefs — for blowing, not showing.

Wool ties. Viyella shirts. Question becomes "which sweater," not "sweater?"

Moleskins, corduroys, flannels. Breeks! (ideal for wearing with long socks under breathable chest waders for you late season fishermen — unlike pants, they don't ride up)

Odd vests. Heavy oxford cloth shirts. Hats.

I'll be heartily sick of it soon enough but for now it's fun to be in transition.

I've got a green tweed in the works, new oxfords and cords in the drawer and loafers at refurb. I'm ready.

This one's a 2B undarted Corbin that somebody (not me) bought at Eljo's. How it got to the Sharon, Conn. thrift shop we'll never know. Somebody's kids went to UVa, probably.

I'm long on the shaggy dog. May need to call O'Connells.

Patick - A handsome Irish walking hat your are sporting there. Can you please brief on colors, manufacturer and place of purchase? My stable of three that date back a couple of decades have become rather ratty. Thinking about a new acquisition seeon.

Thanks in advance.

Shaggy Dogs don't fit me, at least the recent ones at Press don't. Alas.

Hanna Hats, made in Ireland, from Noggin Tops, an excellent hat joint here in Connecticut. Brown and grey, I have both.

Thanks Patrick for the feedback. Coincidentally, my three battered beauties are also from Hanna. I was inspired to buy my first one after seeing the late Senator Daniel Moynihan don one after departing an event at McSorleys in 1979 or 1980. Have been hooked on them ever since.
